Balletto Lucano was founded in 2003 as a cultural association under the direction of Lucanian choreographer Loredana Calabrese, with the aim of making dance both a language and a tool for cultural, human, and territorial development.
Over the years, thanks to the artistic quality of its projects and the vision of its director, Balletto Lucano has become one of the most innovative realities in the dance landscape of Southern Italy: a center for professional training, research, and artistic production, but also a place of inclusion, encounter, and community growth.

In 2006, the Balletto Lucano Company was established. Today it consists of seven professional dancers who alternate in different productions, ranging from abstract to narrative and performative languages. The company stands out for its danse terroir approach: an art deeply rooted in the territory that generates it, yet capable of speaking a universal language. Its productions arise from the landscapes and cultural traditions of Basilicata, while engaging in dialogue with the world, reaching stages and projects at national and international level.
